Bahrain - Friday 23rd January

Bahrain is one of the Gulf States, and is a little island that sits just off the coast of Saudia Arabia. It is linked to Saudia Arabia by the 25- kilometre King Fahad causeway, perhaps one of the longest bridges in the world. Many Saudi Nationals travel to Bahrain on the weekend for relaxation and entertainment. Like other Persian Gulf States, Bahrain has a dynastic ruling family, the Al Khalifa's. The Head of State is Amir Hamad bin isa Al Khalifa and the Head of Government is Prime minister Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa. Bahrain is a peaceful and a relatively liberal Islamic state and many people from other countries are happy to call it their home.

Bahrain is a very ancient land and has been variously known as Dilmun, under which name it appears in the famous Epic of Gilgamesh. It has also been known as Tylos. As Dilmun it was revered as the Land of Eternal life by the Summerians, Babylonians and Assyrians, who sought burial there at death in the hope of being resurrected. In fact , the Epic of Gilgamesh is the story of a demi-god like hero, Gilgamesh trying to obtain the secret of immortality by reaching Dilmun. Much more recently , the Greeks at the time of Alexander The Great , called it Tylos , when it became a busy trade port for commerce between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley civilization (Bharat).

If you've never been to the Middle East or the Gulf, Bahrain would be the ideal introduction. The land is vibrated . It is said that Rumi , the poet had a cave in a remote part of the island , where he contemplated. One almost feels the nearness of Prophet Mohammed Saheb and when one smells Arabian scent it as if Shri Fatima Al-Zahra left Her presence there as all the fragrances of Arabia.

In the the worship of Prophet Mohammed Saheb and His daughter, Shri Fatima bi, who was Shri Gruha Laxmi incarnate, we, the Sahaja Yogis of the World, pray that Shri Mataji may lift the veil that conceals Reality and Truth from all Seekers and pure Souls who happen to have been born into Islam. May they too get their Realisation and come to The Lotus Feet of The Mother of mothers, Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi.

Mr Madhusudan Pillai, a sahaja yogi , originally from India, works for a large Bahrain Aluminium company. He has been given permission to set up a sahaja yoga stand at the company's annual Families Day event which takes place this Friday 23rd January between 9am and 5pm. It is expected that there will be about 8000 people present. A large proportion of this will be Bahrainis, but will also include Indians, Phillipinos and British expats. Because the audience is mainly islamic, the theme will be Sahaja Yoga for stress management, however the hope is that many will come and take their self-realisation.

For further information about this , or , better still, if you want to come and help, please contact Madhu on email : 'kmadhu60@yahoo.com'

If you're reading this please add your prayer that the Event may be a huge success.

Jai Shri Mataji!
