Cabella Primary School Enrollments

Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This summer Shri Mataji told us that the opening a school Cabella is something which is very close to her heart. It is therefore with great excitement we announce that a new primary school for Sahaja Yogi children will open in Cabella in September 2008.
The notes below give you some general information about the school and are designed to help you decide if you are interested in enrolling your child.
Please note that the deadline for enrollment is the 6th January 2008. If you are interested in sending your child to the school you need to make a provisional decision now. You do not have to pay anything on enrollment, so it is not binding. However, given that we are working together with local government authorities, we need to provide ample time for planning ahead.
Background and Concept
The Cabella Primary School proposes a new model for the education of children in Sahaja Yoga. Under the project children would attend the local primary school on weekdays and return to a hostel facility where they would be exposed to sahaj culture and lifestyle in the afternoon, evening and weekend. The proposal has received the support of Shri Mataji and provides a model that is easily transferable to other places.
Size and Location
The school is located in Rocchetta Ligure, a small village 10 minutes down the road from Cabella. The Principal has agreed to accept a total of 30/35 Sahaja Yogi children for 2008, based on the idea that the ratio of Sahaja Yogi children to local children should be 1:1. The advantage of this is that classes will remain small and children will more easily integrate with each other. Sahaja Yogi children will be admitted to all five years of the primary school cycle, which means that there are, on average, 6/7 free places in each year.
When the children return from school they will be housed in the newly renovated building of Centrassi. The Foundation is currently constructing a much larger building on the Albera Property (near the hangar) and once this has been completed, the plan is to shift the children there.
Curriculum
While at school in the mornings the children will study in Italian. English will be learnt as a second language and we are currently working with the school authorities to introduce a bilingual element into the curriculum. For children whose first language is not Italian, the school will provide extra language support. The curriculum corresponds to European standards, of which we attach a copy in English. Sahaja Yogi children will be exempt from taking part in religious studies; instead they will receive instruction in Sahaja Yoga.
In the afternoon and at the weekends the children will return to Centrassi and be looked after by yogis in an English medium environment. They will receive help with their homework and take part in extra-curricular activities such as sport, art etc. English classes and Sahaja Yoga will also form part of these activities.
Cost
We have yet to work out the exact cost of sending a child to the school. However, whatever the fee finally decided upon, it will be in line with what other Sahaj schools in the world (ISPS, Borotin, and Canajohare) are charging at the moment.
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements. However, given the limited number of place available, preference will be given to children who have attended a Sahaja Yoga pre-school and who already speak some English.

1. your application must reach us before the 6th January 2008
2. if your application is accepted, we will officially offer your child a place in the school. Only once you accept this official offer of a place will your child’s enrolment be confirmed.
