Desired: Preferably someone who is able to stay for several terms. The perfect teacher will have a heart of gold, infinite patience, and a joy of teaching and learning. The teacher should be able to work with a variety of age levels, principally pre-school, kindergarten, and 1st grade. Altogether, there will be two teachers for fourteen children for the Spring Term 2009.
We are looking for someone who can work with children of various learning styles: visual, physical, musical, logical, interpersonal, etc., and who can spontaneously integrate different teaching methods. The ideal person would be able to blend traditional learning with creative exploration through learning games, arts, and nature.
Using Shri Mataji’s advice on education, the combined wisdom of other Sahaj teachers and his or her own creativity, the ideal teacher will grow and change along with the little realized souls. The teacher should have a desire to achieve enlightened education and help fulfill Shri Mataji’s vision for Her children.
The teacher should be an established yogi/yogini. Training or experience should include at least one of the following: experience as a teacher at another Sahaj school, courses in early childhood education or the Montessori method, a teaching certificate, a Bachelor's Degree with some related coursework in education, experience working with small groups of children in an educational setting (could include recreation programs that offer organized activities, such as summer camps). The teacher must have some experience teaching basic reading and math, either as teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, or home-schooling parent. Teacher credentials from any country are acceptable, as long as the teacher's English skills (particularly spoken) are good. The teacher must also enjoy working collectively.
If you are interested, please send an email to info@sahajschool.org and we will send you an application. The teacher will need to arrive the weekend of March 7, 2009 and be able to stay until June 14, 2009.
With love, The Canajoharie School Committee
