Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Teachers and aunties should be established yoginis who enjoy working collectively. Living ashram-style in a small house on the beautiful Nirmal Nagari land, teachers and aunties attend and take turns leading morning and evening meditations and footsoaks, as well as weekend havans and pujas.
For the teachers: Training or experience should include at least one of the following: experience as a teacher at another Sahaj school, a degree or coursework in early childhood education or teaching, experience working with small groups of children in an educational setting as teacher, teaching assistant, tutor, or homeschooling parent. Teacher credentials from any country are acceptable, as long as the teacher's English skills (particularly spoken) are good.
Current class levels are from pre-Kindergarten through first grade, with some children working at second grade level. The children are divided into two classes with approximately 7 children in each class. Afternoon classes are collective: both teachers work together in creating and carrying out arts-rich units in the sciences and social sciences. Additionally teachers lead Sahaj class regularly.
For the aunties: The aunties are the primary caregivers for the children. From morning wakeup through bedtime treatments, the aunties look after every aspect of the children's care. Each auntie has approximately 5 children in her dorm. In addition to care for the children, the aunties take turns cooking the meals and looking after the ashram. The aunties also supervise the children at playtime and help with Sahaja class. Aunties with a skill to share can teach regular or occasional classes in arts or games or nature activities.
Spring term will run mid-March to mid-June. Applications may be found online at: http://www.sahajschool.org/school_term_volunteer. If you have any interest but are not certain if you are qualified, please do not hesitate to apply. For any questions, email email@example.com.
