DALLAS, TEXAS. By Shri Mataji's Grace, last Wednesday we started a new series of programs at Nortel Networks here in the Shri Mataji's Grace, last Wednesday we started a new series of programs at Nortel Networks here in the Dallas area. These programs have been going on for about 6 years after we were able to register ourselves as a Nortel club which gave us the right to hold meetings and poster on corporate premises. For the first few years we used to get about 15 people in the opening program, but the numbers started to diminish after a while due to lack of "fresh blood" (hiring freezes) and downsizing. Last year it seemed that maybe we had reached a saturation point since everyone who was interested must have heard about our programs by now. We thought we should really give this up since we got to the point where only 3-5 people would show up at the opening program, but finally decided to give it one last chance. So we reserved a small room (10 chairs) and braced ourselves for a small turnout.
Recently we discovered that as a club, we are entitled to place announcements in the weekly corporate notices that go out to the couple thousand employees in the area, so we emailed the announcement request 2 weeks before the event. Due to the room being so small, we mentioned in the notice that signup is required and seated is limited. It turns out that the person broadcasting the announcements was sick that week and the notice could not go on that next Monday, so it finally went out last week on Monday night, leaving people only a day (Tuesday) to sign up.
Tuesday morning the surprise came. I had four voicemails on my machine and heaps of emails about the class. People had called to sign up as early as 7am, so as not to lose a seat. I spent the first 45 minutes of my day just replying to emails with one hand and answering calls that were pouring in with the other. Finally, a total of 22 new people had signed up, besides the 3 who were already coming. A larger room was of course reserved.
The program was a success, and the 45 minutes alloted for it during the lunch break seemed even too long. You really have to feed these people vibrations and knowledge in a short span and keep them on their feet. People got their realization in a matter of seconds, just holding their hands out and expressing their desire. We also had some important people attending: my boss' boss (with whom I had quite interesting discussions about Sahaja Yoga that day and the night before), and the secretary of our President and General Manager. People even continued to sign up after the class! We now have 26 new people signed up for this week's program.
Maybe after all these programs the vibrations reached a certain level in Nortel when people just responded. And maybe this was just to show us that we are not the doers, and when we finally surrender the Paramchaitanya amazingly arranges everything even against the odds (and I may say, especially against the odds!). All we can do is marvel at Shri Mataji's Leela and try to keep up with its divine flow, and all we can say is: Thank You Shri Mataji !
