We are delighted to confirm the participation of some remarkable artists this year, and the list continues to grow.
To begin with, our sister from Colombia, Anandita Basu has agreed to be artist-in-residence for the entire month of July!
Anandita's skills are varied and highly developed, including a vast knowledge of Hindustani vocal and instrumental music as well as different types of classical and modern dances from India. She has a Master’s Degree in Indian classical music, dance and percussion. (Visit http://ananditabasu.com).
We will also be hosting our sister Seema Gulati who will offer workshops in sitar playing.
Rachel Hankinson will once again provide us with her delightful Art Sessions including Miniature Painting, Batik and Multimedia. Also in the works are courses in western classical singing, theater workshops, visual arts, and much more.
This year, the Summer Family Camp will include daily arts sessions for all participants. In addition to the participation of the talented instructors of the Art Academy, the Family Camp will include artists and teachers who will be offering instruction throughout the week such as:
- Pottery with Shikha Joshi (P.S. If you have never seen her work you must view her website here. Her work is truly stunning!)
- Painting with the wonderfully talented Louise Ruelland (her paintings are a joy of color and beauty and can be seen here)
- Building and Construction with Francois Gibeau
- Cooking, nature studies, photography and more !!!!!
During the last week of June, Heidi Stonier will again be coordinating an Artists Collaborative week, a coming together of artists of many genres, to nourish each other creatively and to develop performances to be offered in a public venue near Nirmal Nagari. Last year the collaborative resulted in a vibrant and glowing performance that was shared with the collective. This year we hope to build on the theme and involve even more artists - both established and aspiring!
On August 4th - for the anniversary of Shri Mataji's personal appearance in Albany, NY - we hope to bring these performances to the public to spread vibrations and interest in Sahaja Meditation.
Please set aside time in your calendars now to take advantage of the Meditation Seminar, Family Camp, Arts Academy, and Artists' Collaborative. Registration information is coming soon, and a more detailed schedule will be announced as plans unfold.
We would also like to take this opportunity to invite any artists who have not already contacted us and would like to offer classes or workshops during any or all of the above events to please DO get in touch with us with your proposals!
